How We Track Your Direct Mail
Every EDDM and targeted mail campaign comes with built-in ways to measure response and a simple results report. You see what your mail did, not just that it was sent.
Four ways we measure response
Each mailing gets its own trackers, so results from one neighborhood, offer or design never get mixed up with another.
QR code + landing page
A unique QR code leads to a page made for that campaign. We count scans and visits, and every form filled out there.
Call-tracking number
A dedicated phone number printed on the piece forwards to your business. Each call is counted for that campaign.
Offer code
A simple code customers mention or enter (for example โMAIL10โ) shows who came from the mailing, in store or online.
USPS Informed Delivery
Where available, households see your piece in their morning email with a clickable link before it reaches the mailbox.
OptionalWhat you'll see after your mail lands
We put every measurable response in one simple report and walk you through it: what came in, from which trackers, what each response cost, and what we recommend mailing next.
Because each campaign has its own trackers, you can compare neighborhoods, offers and designs over time, and spend more where mail works best.
Sample numbers for illustration only. Actual results depend on your offer, design, audience and timing.
From mailbox to report
Set up
Before printing, we create your QR code, landing page, call-tracking number and offer code, and add them to the design.
Mail
We print at Minuteman Press Oak Park, prepare the USPS paperwork and drop off your mailing.
Count
Responses are counted as soon as homes receive the mail. Most arrive in the first few weeks.
Review
We share your results report and recommend what to keep, change or expand in the next mailing.
Honest about what can be measured
Not every customer scans, calls the tracking number or uses the code. Some walk in or search for your name. That's why we also suggest asking new customers how they heard about you, and comparing sales from mailed areas with areas you didn't mail. Together, these give you a realistic picture of what your mail is worth.
Reach the same homes again online
Want more from each mailing? We can follow it with Google and social ads to the same ZIP codes, so people see your name more than once. Those clicks are tracked in the same report.
Tracking questions
Does tracking cost extra?
A QR code and landing page are part of our campaign setup. Call tracking and Informed Delivery depend on the campaign. Your quote lists exactly what is included.
Do the tracking numbers replace my business phone number?
No. The tracking number forwards straight to your existing phone. Customers reach you as usual, and we can count the calls.
Can I compare different neighborhoods or offers?
Yes. We can give each route group, offer or design its own QR code and code, so the report shows which one performed best.
How soon will I see results?
Responses usually start within days of delivery, and most come in during the first few weeks. We review the results with you once the main response window has passed.
